Lina Lukens, LCSW
I feel lucky to be able to say that I love my work.  It is an honor to collaborate with clients for the purpose of improving their lives.  I seek to create a safe environment for people to connect with their internal wisdom and become more genuine.  My eclectic style draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and relational therapies.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING and EDUCATION:
I graduated from Bryn Mawr College graduate school in 1995 with a master’s degree in social work, at which time I began working for the Devereaux Foundation. While there, I treated adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges.  In 1997, I joined the Renfrew Center of Philadelphia (a women’s center for eating disorder treatment), initially working in the admissions department and eventually directing the intensive outpatient program.  In 2003, I began working as a therapist in the eating disorders day treatment program at The Belmont Center so I could work on building up my private practice.  Since 2005, I have been working exclusively in my private practice and with The Center for Acceptance and Change.

CONTINUOUS LEARNING:
I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (Linehan B-tech training) and have been facilitating DBT groups since 2003.  I have a particular interest in working with the college-age population (in addition to those in their 20s) as they struggle with the challenges of moving toward independence.

I seek to create a safe environment for people to connect with their internal wisdom and become more genuine.
