I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a true passion for and dedication to helping the people that I work with learn to live in accordance with their values. I believe that by combining a compassionate understanding of life’s problems and an unwavering commitment to building a life worth living, people can overcome the obstacles that have led to the suffering in their lives.
I earned my doctoral degree from La Salle University in 2009. Prior to graduation, I had the privilege of completing a one year internship at Yale University in the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Intensive Outpatient Program, where I received specialized training in offering DBT to individuals with borderline personality disorder. During this time, I also completed the intensive training in DBT developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan, the founder of DBT. Following my pre-doctoral internship, I was granted the opportunity to complete my postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania in the Aaron T. Beck’s Psychopathology Research Center, work directly under the supervision of Dr. Beck, the founder of Cognitive Therapy. Upon completion of my postdoctoral training, I was awarded a Research Associate position to continue my work with Dr. Beck in providing trainings in Cognitive Therapy to community mental health therapist and case managers working in homeless shelters.
I have extensive experience working with people with borderline personality disorder, trauma, major depressive disorder, and a range of anxiety disorders. In addition, I specialize in helping people who engage in self-injurious behaviors and in suicide prevention. Overall, a majority of my work focuses on helping people learn new ways of relating to and cope with extreme emotions and understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
